Work:
Research Assistant:
Professor Samir Mitragotri’s
Laboratory. UCSB, CA. 2001-Current
Collaborating with Elizabeth Chambers to
determine the viability of red blood cells as a transport medium for drug
delivery.
General Employee:
Barnes & Noble. Redwood City,
CA. Summer of 1999
Assisted in the General Manager’s book
return project, and provided customer service. Shipping and receiving work
was also done.
Projects:
-
Methane
Liquefaction:
Determined an optimal process for methane liquefaction from a variety of
self-designed processes.
-
Flash
Point Calculations:
Wrote a computer program that implemented a P-T flash calculation to
calculate the optimal number of flash drums needed to obtain 95% purity
nitromethane from an initial equimolar mixture of acetonitrile and
nitromethane at constant temperature and pressure.
-
Fluidized Bed Heat
Transfer:
Determined a correlation between bed particle size and minimum
fluidization velocity, and heat transfer coefficient.
-
Compressibility
Factors: Measured
the isothermal compressibility factors for He using the Burnett method,
and determined the second virial coefficient using the data.
-
Gas
Absorption:
Determined the mass transfer coefficient as a function of gas and
liquid flowrates from conductivity and absorption data of CO2
in water .
-
Fermentation:
Determined if this enzymatically catalyzed reaction confers with the
predictions of the Michaelis-Menten model.
-
Control
Algorithm for a CSTR:
Created an algorithm to control feed-back and feed-forward
control of variables in a CSTR.
-
Bioreactor
Design: Designed a
bioreactor system that produces hydrogen gas by photosynthesis using
biochemical reaction engineering principles.
-
Conceptual
Design of a Chemical Plant:
Determined the economic
potentials of a butyl alkylation plant and an MTBE plant and created
plant simulations using Hyprotech’s Hysys simulation program.
